The UK Black Muslim Awards 2021
BCBN co – sponsored The UK Black African/African Caribbean Muslim Awards on Thursday 23rd of December 2021. The long-awaited award ceremony hosted a variety of talented performers and inspirational speakers from the Black Muslim community. The event welcomed some of the finest British Black Muslim entrepreneurs, entertainers, community leaders and film makers.
‘The sponsorship and support from BCBN for our UK Black (African /African Caribbean) Muslims awards assisted us to showcase members of the community who are great role models of excellence in various disciplines (academia, tech, entrepreneurship, community outreach, scholarship, activism, philanthropy, well-being). We were able to give recognition and praise to those who are consistently overlooked or ignored. This assistance helped us to bridge gaps within communities of different school of thoughts and understanding to promote more partnership collaborations to benefit communities. The support from BCBN will also be utilised to support the next generation of British Black African and African Caribbean Muslims in communities. This will include business start-up enterprise training, social entrepreneurship support and connecting young people to employment, accredited training or higher education opportunities.’ – Ismael Lea South, Co-founder & Director of the Salam Project.
The UK Black Muslim Awards 2021 was hosted by Ifrah Samatar and Ismael Lea South, founder of The Salam Project which uniquely challenges issues in the community and inspires young people in a variety of ways, including: outreach to schools, youth clubs, pupil referral units, young offenders’ institutions and promoting UK urban creative artists. The aim of this project is to promote employment, accredited training, higher education and enterprise.
