Leed’s Jewish Welfare Board: Allotment Project
BCBN is delighted to award the Leed’s Jewish Welfare Board of £3,000 for a community allotment project where herbs, fruits and vegetables are now grown and looked after by the community. The impact of this project has extended beyond anticipated reach, and has strengthened community relations. With disabled access provided, the allotment built has become a centre for the local community to come together and learn new skills.
The allotment is used by over 300 primary school students with specialist classes provided for disabled, and local families. The physical and mental therapeutic benefits of gardening by being outside in the fresh air has had a positive impact on the local community. Activities for development and learning of horticultural skills have been provided for all ages.
