Celebrating Young Entrepreneurs and Community Heroes in Outer Hebrides of Scotland

In 2024, Uist Beò showcased ten inspiring stories from North Uist, highlighting young entrepreneurs, community leaders, and local initiatives with support from a £3,000 grant from BCBN. This initiative not only promoted local businesses but also strengthened community resilience and sustainable development on the island.
Among the standout stories, six young entrepreneurs and a dynamic community enterprise took center stage. Archie MacCorquodale championed volunteerism, while Murdo MacLeod tackled the critical issue of housing for young islanders. Their stories, along with others, generated over 100,000 views in just 28 days, amplifying visibility for local businesses and sparking meaningful conversations on economic sustainability.
By harnessing the power of digital storytelling, Uist Beò has demonstrated how grassroots initiatives can drive real social impact—fostering a stronger, more connected, and forward-thinking community. With more stories to come, this project continues to celebrate the people shaping the future of Uist.
