BCBN awards Ramadan Legacy Schools Project
BCBN distributed £5,500 to the Ramadan Legacy Schools Program in Scotland which creates a defining learning experience during one of the most important months in the Islamic year between Muslims and people of other faiths. The objective of the project is to launch interactive Ramadan Assemblies in ten schools across Scotland, to facilitate discussion among young school students, 12-17 years old, on Ramadan in schools and create moments of convergence between Muslims and people of other faiths.
The program helps to foster cross-cultural understanding, dialogue and understanding of Islam in schools in areas where there is a lack of religious literacy or a general lack of diversity and understanding of faith. Through targeting these areas and schools, Muslim school children themselves will have a stronger more confident experience of being a Muslim in a non-Muslim majority school and students of other faiths can appreciate other faith-based holy months throughout the year.
