Supporting ‘Timebanking UK’ Local Exchange Through Training

In October 2024, a £2,850 grant from BCBN enabled Timebanking UK to launch a much-needed fast-track training module for new and transitioning time bank co-ordinators across the UK. Time banks often emerge in response to urgent local needs, and this flexible programme provides co-ordinators with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to lead from day one.
Since launch, the “Essential New Broker Training” has supported seven co-ordinators in areas including Bridgend, Conwy, Eastfield (Yorkshire), Houghton & Wyton, Stanley (Perthshire), and Stratford-upon-Avon. These co-ordinators now serve a combined 938 time bank members, helping deliver accessible, non-monetary community support.
The module covers core areas such as co-production models, engagement strategies, governance, and impact measurement—tailored to each local context. It has played a vital role in maintaining momentum during leadership transitions, providing maternity cover, and supporting newly launched time banks.
Thanks to BCBN’s support, the training is now a permanent fixture in Timebanking UK’s national offer—available both on a rolling basis and in response to urgent community needs.
This grant has not only improved training access and delivery but has strengthened the foundations of a growing, resilient national network built on mutual support and shared time.
