Miracles and BCBN Join Forces to Feed London’s Hungry Children
In the bustling metropolis of London, where the city’s heartbeat never seems to slow down, there’s a silent struggle that often goes unnoticed. It’s the fight against hunger among children living in poverty, and the battle intensifies during the school holidays when food poverty reaches its peak. But amid this challenge, there’s a glimmer of hope called “Feed London Summer,” a project by the charity organisation Miracles.
Miracles, an organisation dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of those in need, has been a beacon of hope for many London families, especially during the summer break. When school doors close, the strain on low-income families deepens as they grapple with the added burden of providing extra meals for their children. “Feed London Summer” is Miracles’ answer to this crisis, ensuring that no child goes to bed hungry during the holidays.
The project is simple yet profoundly effective. Miracles delivers essential food boxes, each filled with fresh and nutritious ingredients for main meals. These boxes are a lifeline for families who would otherwise struggle to put food on the table. It’s not just about filling stomachs; it’s about providing children with a healthy start to their holidays.
The BCBN grant arrived at a time when they were grappling with the challenge of reaching their budget target for the Feed London Summer project. James Burton from Miracles expressed his gratitude for the support, saying, “The BCBN grant arrived like a ray of sunshine – it was a particularly difficult time for us as we struggled to reach our target budget for the Feed London Summer project and we were having to turn families away from our crisis funding.”
The impact of the BCBN grant goes far beyond just numbers; it’s about the lives it touched. With this generous support, Miracles was able to purchase the ingredients for 71 Feed London Summer boxes, which, in turn, helped feed a staggering 180 children. These boxes meant around 2,000 fresh and healthy main meals for kids who would have otherwise gone without.
As we celebrate the unity and compassion displayed by Miracles and the support from BCBN, we are reminded that together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it the most. In the face of adversity, these organisations stand as a testament to the power of collective action and the ability to bring light into the darkest corners of our communities.
